This mosque stands on pillars of concrete on the shores of the Red Sea. When the tide is out, it looks as if it floating, which is why it is called the Floating Mosque. Devotees on their umrah or hajj pilgrimages usually stop by here on their way to Jeddah after praying their respects in Mecca and Medina.

Acehnese coffee is usually served in two different styles : Black coffee (sugarless), or sanger (coffee with milk). The real attraction here through lies in the preparation process. Coffee id filtered through a cloth lifted high over-a tradition that dates back to the Aceh Sultanate era.

Often hyped as the island’s best-kept-secret beach, Balangan is certainly not easy to find, even with the existence of a new road that will just about take you all the way in. All of the bushwhacking is well worth it though once you pop out onto Balangan’s pristine, white, sandy beach to find only a handful tourists scampering about. The four-to-eight-foot-high waves at Balangan are fast, powerful and hollow and perform best at mid-to-high-tide. There is also a nice reef here located just a short paddle out from the shore.

Satu-satunya fakta yang disepakati umum adalah bangunan ini pernah digunakan Jepang pada masa Perang dunia ke II. Benteng Jepang berdiri di Pulau Weh. Di dalamnya terdapat beberapa terowongan yang kini sudah tertutup, sementara dari puncaknya kita bisa melihat panorama luat lepas dan Pantai Anoi Hitam. Di akhir pekan, banyak orang datang untuk snorkeling di antara bebatuan di depan benteng.

Admiral Cheng Ho from China arrived in Semarang by ship for the first time in 1405 on a mission of friendship and trade. A second visit followed in 1416, during which some of his crew fell sick and he was forced to anchor at Pantai Simongan. To pay homage to this master mariner, Semarang’s Chinese community erected a temple in 1724. The citizens of Kota Lumpia (Semarang’s nickname is “The City of Spring Rolls”) also commemorate the life of Cheng Ho annually in cultural parades that take place at several points around the city.
